ABOUT US
2nd Chance Dog Rescue opened March 26th 2011. Founders Tifini Mills and Jamie Hughes met while doing what we love; spending time and working with homeless dogs during their journey to find their forever home. We became friends through our love of dogs and helping those in need. Together we saw a desperate need for more facilities for dogs in need. There are so many great dogs out there that make excellent family pets if given the time for one on one attention, training, and socialization while readying them for a forever home. After much thought about the overwhelming amount of homeless dogs, we realized there was something we could do about it. Therefore 2nd Chance Dog Rescue was born.
We have converted an existing workshop into a space able to house 15 dogs at a time. Currently we have 2 outdoor fenced in areas and 13 chain link kennels for outdoor housing on nice days. The workshop has kennels indoors for bad weather, along with an office set up as a home like environment to make the dogs comfortable and to see how they react to being in a home setting. Every dog that comes into our rescue is temperament tested and evaluated to determine the best home for the dog. They are fully vetted upon arrival to the rescue, all of which is done by local vets.
We are not breed specific and have placed all different types of breeds. Home visits and follow ups are done for all adoptions to ensure the dog is placed in the best possible home.
Our five year plan includes housing facilities for more dogs and a play area that will offer an agility course and training. We believe that every dog deserves a chance and we will spend time with each and every dog, working with it to make it ready for its forever home.
